The Inertia

Winter at Mammoth Mountain got off to a strong start with the snowiest November in a decade. While the overall season snowpack didn’t measure up to what we saw in 2023, a strong push through the finish line in March provided enough snow that the mountain is going to be spinning lifts into June.

Mammoth Mountain announced this week that “the snow is still holding strong,” giving skiers and snowboarders a chance to ride beyond Memorial Day. The announcement came without an exact closing date, which they say they still haven’t established.

Elsewhere on the mountain, Mammoth says its extended ski season will happen alongside the opening of its mountain biking terrain and area golf courses. Californians love the opportunity to ride waves and snow in the same day — something that can technically be done in other places around the world too — but skiing, biking, and fitting in at least nine holes all before the sun goes down in one town is another unique itinerary. Mammoth Moutain sells Ski + Bike as well as Ski + Bike + Golf packages, according to its webpage.

Admittedly, that requires a lot less driving than getting from the coast to the mountains in one day.
