The Inertia for Good Editor

The Inertia

The best freestyle edits are all about turning everyday locations into a playground. Or should I say a park, for that matter? I know I’m not alone when I say my all-time favorite segment came when JP Auclair cruised through the streets in B.C. in All I Can well over a decade ago. The song still jumps into my head and won’t leave for at least a day anytime I see a new edit with somebody turning some everyday corner into a jib line. And, I’m happy to say, that lime green orange jacket is still hanging in my closet today. Did I just date myself?

Anyway, I have yet to see somebody take that same concept and elevate it to running (or skiing, really) through the halls of a school. But young Matej Svancer just did, putting his own creative spin on the urban genre of freestyle edits. Bonus points for Svancer’s session and the play on words also giving me the itch to dig out a copy of 1991’s Ski School for nostalgia’s sake, even if the B-Movie really had nothing to do with any kind of school at all. Either viewing option could scratch your itch right now to get out there for a few runs, which is really what any good edit does.
