Oregon’s Mt. Bachelor was one of the many places in North America that limped out of the 2025-2026 winter. Like many ski areas and resorts, Bachelor’s season was cut painfully short by several weeks, bidding farewell to this past season in mid-April. This week delivered a solid reminder that that winter is behind us now and there’s a lot of hope for a fruitful winter ahead. The resort saw snow midweek, similar to a handful of Canadian resorts that enjoyed the same weather over the weekend.
Bachelor’s snowfall hasn’t amounted to anything but a dusting, but snow is snow, and the resort joked about it by doing exactly what we’re all compelled to do at the slightest mention of snow this time of year. Opening day is months away, in fact. They didn’t open for the season until December 23 last year, and no official opening day plans have been announced for this season. Most seasons begin for Bachelor in late November or early December. But resort PR still had some fun with the few flakes on the ground and sent an employee out for the first “turns” of a new season.

The storm continued through Wednesday and into Thursday with some light coverage still visible on some of the resort’s lift cams. Snow is expected to continue falling into Friday, as well, but of course none of this is going to stick around. Still, snow is snow. Even if you can’t get out and rip laps yet, even a light dusting is enough to stoke the fire for the season ahead. It’ll be here soon.
