The female snowboarding community is strong, powerful even from my perspective. Women are riding at never-before-seen levels. Case in point: Runway Films just dropped a teaser to Full Moon, a flick sure to amp winter anticipation to rarely-seen heights for women the world over. And that isn’t hyperbole.
As The Inertia’s Matty Vanatta wrote last year, Full Moon encompasses every female snowboarder’s dream: an epic full-length snowboard film with the most idolized female riders ever. The two-year filming mission took Robin Van Gyn, Jamie Anderson, Leanne Pelosi, Marie-France Roy, Hana Beaman and more to the world’s biggest mountains around the globe. Of course, these women have already laid pow lines in our hearts and earned enormous amounts of respect, but this film extends beyond that because it’s monumental for the history of women’s snowboarding. Full Moon is a means to pay homage to some of the first female-snowboarding idols (think Tara Dakides in Transworld‘s Stand & Deliver) and a chance for modern legends to prove to the world, and themselves, that they did it, they advanced women’s riding and inspired girls generations after to continue the quest. Pretty damn epic.
All of the riders featured in Full Moon can easily keep up with the guys, and often times, shred harder (IMO). Through a successful Kickstarter campaign and endless support on social media, snowboarding’s leading ladies just created the best female snowboard movie ever. Full Moon premieres in Whistler on September 16 and will be available for the rest of us at TWSNOW.COM on November 12, 2016.
