Wildlife in Alaska and Canada (and the rest of the world, for that matter) isn’t just beautiful. It can be an absolute hazard to your health. A school bus driver in Anchorage saw this rather large moose crossing the road and slowed down, according to the YouTube post. “Suddenly, I saw (lights) on my left,” the driver said. “It was not a car but a motorcycle. The moose seemed spooked by the sound of the bike and I think they both saw each other at the same time. The cyclist swerved slightly to the right and barely avoided contact with the moose.”
The driver added that he had slowed and turned on his hazard while the motorcyclist seemed unfazed and kept up the nearly 60 mph clip it was traveling at. That’s about as close a call as one could have. The motorcycle driver could have his head taken off by the midsection of the animal. Wildlife and roadways don’t mix.
