Night skiing is fun. When you’re in the mood for a little bit of hot-dogging, a park run or two under the lights can be a great way to cap off one of those days where you couldn’t get quite enough laps. At least that’s the extent of the night ski sessions under my own belt, which have had more to do with laughs and sliding around on icy groomers than tracking the kind of lines like the one above.

Night skiing while ripping through a couloir with nothing more than a headlamp guiding the way is on a different level. I’m assuming Norway’s Eivind Aanensen has had his fair share of runs through this couloir during daylight hours though, considering he fired through it in the dark at a solid pace. He’s certainly no stranger to steep terrain and picking some wild lines. Aanensen was part of the crew in 2022’s Eulogy of a Steep Skier, which came right after having his own close encounter with an avalanche.
