Conditions for the Freeride World Tour qualifier at New Zealand’s Remarkables resort recently enjoyed anything but pristine conditions. In fact, calling the snow firm is probably a favor. But the athletes didn’t mind, it seemed, especially Patrick Daniel Halgren, who took one general judging criteria of any action sport, “speed, power and flow,” and ran with it like we’ve never seen from an adaptive skier. He was the “People’s Choice,” of the event and it would seem hard to argue with that call.
Halgren is from Tolland, Conn. and he lost his leg in a motorcycle accident three years ago. He’s trying to make the U.S. Paralympic ski team. He’s started a GoFundMe page and probably deserves any help he can get. Dude is a shredder.
