This is straight-up weird. I came across this piece of video in the far reaches of the internet this morning. Two snowboarders, enjoying a massive powder day, outside Tsugaike Ski Resort in Hakuba, Japan, couldn’t just enjoy a massive powder day in Japan.
They find a wild Kamoshika as they’re riding, which is similar to the North American version of the mountain goat (it’s also been compared to the antelope), and have to senselessly harass the beast. The animal is obviously having a hard time moving around in all the snow. And the guys decide to wrestle it and capture an Instagram-able moment. Pretty sure this is illegal in Japan, yet somehow it ends up on Youtube under the username J13 LUR. More like “lurker.”
In midwinter, animals are doing their best to survive and not use any fat. The sheer panic the animal felt, along with trying to escape the clutches of these guys’ mitt-covered hands, is enough to put the wild goat in a bad place. Maybe I rolled out on the wrong side this a.m. but something about this just annoyed the hell out of me.
