Well, that was a late Christmas gift nobody wanted. On December 29, around 140 skiers and riders were evacuated after a chairlift failed at Whitefish Mountain Resort in northwestern Montana. Skier Billy Marcial heard what was going on and apparently skied over to capture this video as a snowboarder was rappelled off the lift, then lowered down the cliff face. “I didn’t stick around to watch after they got him down,” Marcial said. “I’m guessing his friend on the lift with him had to [be lifted down] as well.”
The resort said it took two and a half hours to get everyone off and that there were no reported injuries.
