After a dry winter, Europe has finally started to get some snow over the last week or so and things are getting interesting. Swiss freeskier Andri Ragettli posted this crazy video from today at Tignes Resort, a ski area that combines with Val d’Isère Resort in the French Alps. This rather large avalanche came booming down from the peaks above the terrain park where Ragettli was training.

“Wow, just saw this BIG avalanche next to the park,” he wrote. “Be careful out there!”

There were no reported injuries or burials but still, this looks like a significant slide. There has been more than three feet of snow in parts of the Alps over the last week and temperatures have been all over the place so needless to say, the snowpack is probably inverted and dangerous. Some 46 avalanches have been reported in the last 10 days, including a slide that killed well-known French entrepreneur Guillaume Mulliez on March 13 near Modane in Savoie in southwest France.

Ragettli is of course a gifted Olympian who’s won four X Games golds.
