The Inertia

Imagine walking through the city and seeing a bunch of water sloshing around inside a giant cube. Now imagine that cube isn’t actually real, it just looks so incredibly realistic and mesmerizing that you can’t tell the difference. That’s the simplest way to explain ‘WAVE,’ a public art installation on display in Seoul, South Korea. The 3-D optical illusion is being displayed on South Korea’s largest high-definition outdoor advertising screen, created by an art tech factory called d’strict.  It’s 80 meters wide by 20 meters tall and the designers call it an “anamorphic illusion,” and the display is so crisp and the movement of water so fluid and natural, it’s still tough to believe it’s not real.
