Puerto Escondido is dangerous enough already. The beachbreak in Oaxaca, Mexico is world-renowned for its cavernous barrels and thundering surf. However, this week an unexpected danger came to the Mexican Pipeline: a 10-foot crocodile.
The drama went down on Bacocho Beach, in the municipality of San Pedro Mixtepec, located just north of Zicatela. As seen in an Instagram video from Central Q Noticias, the massive reptile was swept into the surf during a large swell.
The beast was promptly captured and strapped onto an ATV. After authorities snapped a few photos of their gargantuan catch, the critter was taken back to its preferred habitat – the nearby mangroves and lagoons along the coast.
“The specimen, which measures approximately three meters long, was secured on the afternoon of April 6, under strict safety protocols,” wrote Central Q Noticias. “Authorities stressed that the primary goal was to safeguard the integrity of tourists and inhabitants, as well as to ensure the well-being of the specimen during its capture.”
