Cruz Dinofa is too young to recall a time when aerial surfing was a novelty. From what first looked like nothing more than an accidental chop-hop to what we know today, a lot has happened over the past four decades in surfing’s evolution above the lip. And watching a grom with this much specialized talent is a punctuation mark on that statement…well, at least for now.
Dinofa is surprisingly consistent. He makes it look easy. And for a young human whose body has yet to hit puberty, he doesn’t move with the same uncoordinated awkwardness most pre-teens have to navigate. This is him doing his thing on manmade waves; a tool that’s going to produce more groomed, hyper-talented aerial experts like this Jersey native, all before they’re old enough to drive.
