When heading out for a surf in Western Australia these days, sharks are typically the most widely feared predator in the water. Last week, a 13-foot crocodile gave surfers something else to consider as it lingered in the lineup at Cable Beach near Broome, WA, clearing the water of all swimmers and surfers.

The croc hung out for most of the day making the beach a no-go for surfers. Thankfully, for those hunting waves, it had moved on by the following morning. According to one report, “Local Parks and Wildlife officer Dave Woods said it is believed to be the same crocodile which has been spotted close to Broome in December.” The same officer also mentioned that the crocodile would be “targeted for removal” to a Wilderness Park.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time an animal has been “removed” from its natural habitat in Western Australia. On the bright side, “removed,” in this case, doesn’t mean “culled.”
