Hawaii’s insanely talented 16-year-old, Seth Moniz, just blew up our iPhones with this gigantic air while free surfing this week.

Initially, we reported that he joined sacred company in Kelly Slater, Albee Layer, and if you’re counting degree of rotation, Matt Meola in the 540 club, but upon closer scrutiny, looks like we might have jumped the gun on that call as it seems some of that rotation takes place after the aerial was landed. Watching ridiculous airs on tiny iPhones with dropped frames can do that to you. Many would argue it wasn’t a completed maneuver, but Seth took to Instagram to explain it indeed was. Complete or not, this aerial attack is a perfect demonstration of progressive, innovative surfing. Here’s what Seth had to say about it:

Here’s a wave from my 5 hour session yesterday. Kind of a bummer my filmer @coleyamane decided to load the camera in his water housing right when I caught it. Luckily @kazsano was filming from a different angle but stopped recording before I rode out of the white wash. I know some of you will doubt it was a make or not with this footage but I’m still psyched on it. Enjoy! @haynsupahman @kekoabacalso @noamizuno

What do you think? Where does this air fall in the canon of gigantor airs that seem to be happening more and more frequently?
