The Inertia

There is really no other feeling better than stuffing your face after a 3 hour session in the warm, sapphire-blue waters of Sydney, Australia. Here, restaurants and cafès are as abundant as the fun, rippable waves that surround them. So we have provided 6 post-surf eateries around Sydney to get your grind on and refuel you for another session.

1.     The Boat House, Palm Beach

Swing past here after your Palmy, Whale Beach or Avalon morning surf. The waterfront setting perfectly compliments the friendly staff, great coffee and deliciously scrumptious food. Be sure to buy a bunch of flowers for your mom on the way out–delivered fresh from the Sydney flower markets. If the ocean didn’t deliver and you’re feeling extra energetic, the golf course next to The Boathouse is great for a quick nine holes.

2.     Speedos Café, North Bondi

This radical café is on the north end of the beach where the swell tends to be a bit calmer. Great views of the beach, delicious food and superb coffee. Try the grilled satay chicken sandwich, it’s absolutely mental. It’s also hot here, so grab a “lazy summer” ice smoothie on the way out.

3.     Icebergs Terrace, South Bondi

After your surf at South Bondi or Tamarama, order a Vittoria coffee, cold pressed juice or breakfast snack at the most well-positioned café in all of Sydney. If the swell is down, this area is also a sanctuary for everything outdoors. Yoga on the Icebergs deck, the Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk, or a swim in the famous Icebergs pool are perfect prefaces to a delicious snack and coffee at Icebergs Terrace.

4.     Three Blue Ducks, Bronte Beach

This lively café was started by three surfers as a humble little coffee shop. It’s now one of the busiest breakfast spots in Bronte. Located right on the beach, this spot is an easy quick stop after surfing Bronte. Great food, lively staff and excellent coffee.

5.     Chalk Espresso Bar, Maroubra Beach

After evading the Bra Boys at Maroubra Beach in South Sydney, this little espresso bar will surely will hit the post-surf spot. Order the bacon and egg roll–you will not be disappointed. In addition to the cool atmosphere and tasty food, these guys certainly know how to make a mean coffee.

6.     The Grounds, Alexandria

Although The Grounds is a few miles from any kind of wave, it is a must-go in Sydney. This place is unlike any other. For starters, the place is huge. They roast their own coffee and have a full bakery. There are lemonade carts, donut and hotdog carts. The food is exceptional and the coffee is just as delicious. The decor and aesthetic is impeccable. Be sure to say hi to their pet pig, Kevin Bacon.
