Contrary to popular belief, surfing in New York doesn’t always involve 6-mil wetsuits and numb limbs. In fact, during the summer months, it’s actually quite pleasant, as warm water and frequent south swells hang around for a few short months. And for the 6th Annual New York Surf Week surf contest, both these elements came together for one magical day of surfing. Taking top honors was Puerto Rico’s Leif Engstrom, who pocketed a thousand big ones for his performance. The rest are as followed:
1. Leif Engstrom, $1,000
2. TJ Gumiela, $750
3. Alex Fawess, Balaram Stack, $325
