When you’re a talented surf filmmaker, you often get snatched up by some of the biggest companies in the game to lend your artistic talents toward making the best surfers in the world look good. But, between surf shots and artsy b-roll of palm trees swaying in a trade wind breeze, there are countless moments in airports, hotel rooms, pools, and cars that either don’t get documented or get scrapped.
For Morgan Maassen, who lives a charmed life indeed, the most recent video above was the only way to put a collection of these fleeting moments in one place. And if you pay attention, you might recognize some of the characters, maybe even see a seal tooth marry a napkin apocalypse. All shots are apparently on an iPhone.
Here’s what Morgan had to say about the project:
“I’ve always made these yearly iPhone videos that were inane compilations of all the things I’d see as I went about my life… so I thought I would make something a bit more meditated, something that could both respect and relax the speed of which I fly by the seat of my pants.”
