It’s an age-old debate, dating back to the inception of riding waves. Goofy foot. Or Regular. Right foot forward. Or left. Without the ability to choose, we, as surfers, are subjected to a random rendering of which way we ride. And we staunchly defend our randomly decided stance.
In the latest episode of Rip Curl’s resurrected “Search” series, three young rippers make the case for goofy-footed dominance. Luke Hynd, Jacob Wilcox, and Harry Bryant – all right foot forward surfers – find an uncrowded left after battling an embittered crowd of eggy individuals. What follows is a shred fest filled with atmosphere-orbiting airs and peaky tubes. What more could you ask for? Though there likely will never be definitive evidence to support one side in the stance war – goofy or regular – Rip Curl and the boys are valiantly campaigning for the right foot forward.
