Dean Vandewalle sent over some footage last week that blew my mind. He caught a swell right before he took off from Tamarindo, then left to hit the pool in Waco. I thought it was a pretty sick view of both natural and man-made waves, and it also shows how far wavepools have come in regards to mimicking what we surf in the ocean.
Dean and his friends were tripping on how they’re constantly searching out a perfect ramp at home, usually only getting a couple of great opportunities each swell. Then they go to the pool where every wave is tailor-made for airs. Pretty mind-blowing to think what’s going to happen as the technology continues to develop.
