If Jack Coleman and Alex Knost hook up to test a strange surfboard, you know you’re in for a good time.
Coleman has a unique style of filmmaking. He’s the creator of such films as The Zone, Imaginary Carpet, and Zone Frequency. He often highlights surfers who are a little outside of the mainstream. Surfers like Ryan Burch, Derrick Disney, Bryce Young, Ari Browne, Tosh Tudor, Gavin Beschen, Leah Dawson, Andy Nieblas, Alex Knost, Justin Adams, and Manon Pouget. The final three are who we see in Microwavable Infomercial, a short film documenting a product test of a new surfboard model from Brown Microwave Television called the Blind Foil Twinzer.
It’s a surfboard you’d expect to see Knost on. Which is to say it is not a standard thruster. It’s the latest in Knost’s dive into the world of twinzers, and it’s got a whole lot going on.
“With an even rocker and tight swallow tail,” Mollusk Surf Shop wrote, “it still utilizes the belly channel to create a vee under the front foot and the tail channel to give the board hold through the last part of your turns.”
That little swallow breaks up the water, which, if you’re doing it right, lets the rider redirect quickly. The outline’s curve allows the shape to scale up or down from 6’4″ up to 7’4″ without losing any momentum. It’s a perfect shape for Knost, Adams, and Pouget to showcase their unique surfing styles, and Jack Coleman is the perfect person to put it all on film.
