The Inertia

Remember when the wipeout reel was a clearly defined segment saved for the end of every surf flick? Without fail we’d sit and watch that VHS or DVD and knew all the wipeouts were being saved for the grand finale just like an Avengers post-credits scene.

Surf filmmaking has undoubtedly changed over the years. Those individual segments that used to be compiled into one film are now simply the bi-weekly edit every pro throws on YouTube. No more waiting several months for new surf porn (unless we’re talking about John John’s production schedule, of course). Another noticeable change is the absence of theatrics. The skits that used to introduce a surfer’s segment or a wipeout reel was often more entertaining than the surfing itself and this throwback from Campaign is a prime example.

But thankfully there’s no such thing as surf injury attorneys. That could get messy real quick.
