The Inertia

The Irons brothers are legends. Their relationship was unbreakable—volcanic, but unbreakable. They, as many brothers do, fought like cats and dogs, competed hard against one another, and loved each other.

“Bruce and Andy Irons probably weren’t stoked to be sharing a section here,” wrote Taylor Steele in his latest offering from the Momentum Files. “Brotherhood’s funny like that. You grow up fighting for your share of the room, your parent’s love, your individual identity… only to get lumped together the moment you step out the door.”

Although Bruce and Andy took very different paths in surfing, they managed to “be two of the most progressive, hardcore, punk rock, game-changing icons ever to stand on a surfboard.” The short you see above is a chopped up version of the clips that didn’t make their individual sections in Campaign, and it’s evidence that all that competitiveness pushed them both to be two of the best surfers we’ve ever seen.
