The Inertia

Since the Palm Springs Surf Club announced that its doors will soon open, there’s been an onslaught of content from the wave pool. Seemingly every pro and/or vlogger has taken a turn on the wave, the official announcement opened the flood gates. Now, thanks to BEEFS T.V., there’s yet another entry in the PSSC video vault, and it’s a good one.

PSSC co-founder Kalani Robb was obviously there, along with a host of talented names. Blair Conklin, Italo Ferreira, Parker Coffin, Josh Kerr and Sierra Kerr all threw their hats in the ring. There was also a special guest appearance from Matt Adler, the actor best known to surfers as Rick Kane in the cult classic North Shore.

In what might be the most troubling development for traditionalists, mechanical troll extraordinaire RC Surfer also showed up to the party. Thanks to the wonders of technology, we now have an artificial surfer on an artificial wave. Sure, it’s only a foot tall and controlled by a human, but these are all solvable problems. Once Boston Dynamics figures out how to get Atlas to stick a takeoff, we might be able to cut out the human element entirely.
