The Inertia

Most of us would like a few more sticks in our quiver. But unlike this dumbass, we’d stop short of smashing a window at a surf shop, busting in and making off with the lumber. Security camera footage shows that’s what happened at the Rusty Boardhouse in La Jolla around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Dude busted through the front window and strolled into the shop — with no mask or gloves but with what looks like a handgun tucked into his waistband. He looks frazzled, apparently because the alarm went off.

In all, he snatched four surfboards and some other merchandise, putting the tally of stolen goods around $4,000, according to Angie Preisendorfer, the shop owner. He jetted off in what was described as a light-colored or white SUV.

Judging by his sloppy-ass style and everyday clothes, the thin, potentially bald guy doesn’t look like a professional thief, just an idiot looking for a quiver upgrade.
