This was one of those swells that you don’t forget. You can’t.The storm smashed the local town. Mark Healey scored possibly the biggest wave ever paddled at Puerto Escondido. We saw some of the most horrific, pencil drop wipeouts imaginable. And 19 year-old Natxo Gonzalez from the Basque Country continued his tear across the planet’s gnarliest waves to continue building a name for himself in the big wave community. Just check the paddle-in barrels from 2:28 on. This session came right on the heals of his performance at Punta de Lobos for the Big Wave World Tour and a few months after another impressive showing at one of the biggest swells to rock Europe last winter. Next time a purple blob fires up, we won’t be surprised to see Natxo dropping jaws. Seems like that’s kind of his thing.
