Tasmania rears some truly insane surfers. It’s cold, filled with the heaviest slabs, and it’s circled by the biggest sharks. Surfers from Tasmania are a different breed. Benny Richardson is just that–somehow, he keeps his head screwed on straight even as this Shipstern’s mutant warps beneath his feet, makes the step, and pulls into a massive barrel. Tim Bonython was on hand to capture the whole thing, and now it’s an entry in the Billabong Ride of the Year category of the 2015 XXL Big Wave Awards.
