The Inertia

I teach Earth Science at a high school in New York City that has an excellent photography program. There, I have had access to a camera, some lenses, and a knowledgable photography teacher who was willing to help me get started by showing me settings and such. I only just picked up photography last October. I had no idea what was to come of it, but what I did realize right away was how stoked I felt when I was shooting.

I picked up my own gear earlier this year and have been just as excited about capturing waves as catching them lately. I have discovered a new passion in life – something that is invigorating and something that I want to excel at. It’s a new challenge for me and, to be honest, I never thought I would find something I would be so passionate about later on in life. I have had the opportunity to shoot from land and, more recently, from the water. Both have their perks and downfalls.

My goal as a photographer is to just keep shooting, developing knowledge about my equipment and lighting, and to maximize fun. I would like to keep discovering new locations and sharing my view of the world through my enjoyment of the ocean. I am constantly chasing light, especially that early morning and late evening light.
