Last spring, back when the WSL was still called the ASP, a massive swell made its way towards Chile. Of course, all eyes turned to Punta de Lobos, and big wave fans around the world held their breaths in anticipation of the BWT event getting the green light. After more careful consideration, though, the event was deemed a no-go–but that didn’t mean the waves didn’t show up.
As per usual, Ramon Navarro and a slew of other local chargers took advantage and pulled onto more than a few massive waves. A not-so-common face was in the water, too: Damien Hobgood, Floridian twin/tube hunter/big wave lover made his way to the southern tip of the world and snagged what just might be the best wave of the session.
The video above is the ninth in Epictv.com’s Los Buscagigantes with Ramon Navarro series.
