Over the weekend, Cyclone Gita turned Kirra into some kind of magical wave machine. “Best conditions ever!” Gold Coast surfers collectively announced. “We’re out there!” You can bet your bottom dollar that for the next few days your screens will be jammed with footage, but it’s not likely to be better than this.
Darren Handley, of DHD fame, drops Dean Harrington into a Kirra Grinder with Corey Wilson riding behind him. Harrington hops off, Handley takes a high line, Wilson sees trouble brewing and disappears before Handley’s high line turns into a deep line. You gotta hand it to the guy, though—he didn’t stop trying to either get the ski barreled or get that ski out of trouble.
