“Disguised in Nature” is a non-fiction short film based on two female professional surfers’ interpretation of travel, friendship and the “dream tour.” The film takes a new approach to showcasing female surfing and the love for the sport. Instead of focusing solely on the bright aspects of the public’s perception of female surfing, it also raises key insights surrounding the comparison between male and female surfing, the need for continual support and the ability to be able to let go and let the ocean guide you. The film is driven through the authentic narration of Johanne Defay and me. We both come from creative and expressive backgrounds and therefore find ourselves lost in the perfect society of Australia.
