Sure, surfing at night is one way to avoid the unruly crowds at Snapper. But is it really safe? Jagged rocks aside, just last week the Dorsal App notified the public of an unspecified length and species of shark that was spotted cruising just outside the surf zone, but the waves were too good for anyone to give a hoot. Plus, there were a few hundred heads in the water, so people were willing to take their chances.
It’s common knowledge that sharks are more active at night. When you combine this fact with Australia’s sharky reputation, you might begin to question Sheldon Simkus’ sanity. But then again, we all do some pretty wacky things just to surf. Question is: would you?
