The Inertia

Most of us are happy to slap one good turn into a wave. We wait, we scramble, we jockey for waves, and if we’re lucky we have one quality wave and one great turn that has us ready to wake up early and do it again the next day.

Now, how about 46? That’s the world record Dylan Graves just set on the Kampar River, specifically surfing a wave known as the Bono “7 Ghosts”. Graves has had his eye on the tidal bore wave since 2011, when the Rip Curl Search went there, and 12 years later he managed to sneak in a real leg burner. The wave was surfed in 2023, and Guinness World Records finally confirmed the world record for “Most top turns/carves on a single wave.”
