San Clemente Island sits just over 50 miles from the San Diego coastline. Access is limited–as a military testing site, it’s a hard place to spend time. But because of that limited access, it’s one of California’s most diverse places. That, of course, makes it a perfect place for spear fisherman like Ryder DeVoe.
DeVoe’s very accomplished when it comes to diving and fishing. He’s been doing it for years. Growing up in Encinitas, his backyard was a veritable oceanic playground, and he took full advantage. Now he’s on the Riffe team and spends most of his life in the water, doing exactly what he loves.
