The Inertia

Tofino, a remote town in British Columbia, has been called the capital of Canadian surfing. “Tough City,” so nicknamed for the rough and tumble loggers and fishermen who called the city home, has 22 miles of beaches with options for every type of surfer, if you can brave the cold.

Luckily, Keenan Bush of Tofino Surf Photography battled currents, wind and 52-degree water to serve us up some POV footage from his latest expedition. “The last session before we ditched the gloves was one for the books!” writes Keenan in the YouTube description. “The swell lines were groomed and perfect, the wind was howling offshore and the sun was shining, a rare trifecta out here on Vancouver Island.”

Though Keenan was amped up searching for an elusive barrel, I’m most drawn to the total lack of any other surfers in that lineup. Time to grab the Canadian passport and as much neoprene as I can physically attach to my body.
