Grant Baker just won the Puerto Escondido Challenge in some of the best waves the BWT has seen so far. He won in very convincing fashion: with a perfect 10 in the final.
The swell that showed its teeth at the Mexican Pipeline was one for the ages. While not quite as big as the one that ran over the town about this time last year, it was still absolutely huge, but a little more manageable. It didn’t come without its fair share of wipeouts, though. Makuakai Rothman, in particular, sustained an injury to his chest after packing a huge closeout.
Baker is no stranger to Puerto Escondido, and this event showed exactly what the place is famous for. Here are the highlights from yesterday.
