The Inertia

It isn’t often the Wedge goes big this late in the season. As a long-period south swell roped into Southern California earlier this week, Newport Beach’s resident mutant wave was far from perfect – the tide was a little high and a stubborn morning breeze wasn’t helping the case. Still, there was juice to be squeezed, and a handful of locals were on it, much to the delight of news crews and onlookers. This might be the last chance for anything before the Dirty Old Wedge goes into annual hibernation for the winter.
