The Inertia

This weekend, I got to witness one of the last south wells of the year in the one place you’d want to be during such an event. The tides are turning and as we all know, good things don’t last forever. The Wedge has given us another incredible summer. The lucky few that had a chance to watch this unique wave break on its biggest days were left with our jaws in our laps. And this weekend may have been our last hoorah.

There’s nothing like the Wedge anywhere else in the world and it takes a massive set of b***s to ride down the face of one of its Orange County mutants. After digging the sand out of your ears, there’s nothing more satisfying than finding where your other fin went off to and heading back out to the lineup to do it all over again. And with all the danger of being in the water here, there’s a huge sense of accomplishment to get loaded on a Wedge double-up and shot out of the barrel like a rag-doll.

Please don’t be the last south swell of the year, already. From one of your biggest fans, I hope to see you soon, Wedge.
