The Inertia

Winter is coming. Along the North Shore, those three words have always been cause for excitement — not just some pop-culture catchphrase that elicits visions of angry dragons and stoic White Walkers. And unlike the last few episodes of GOT, winter always delivers along the Seven Mile Miracle.

Technically, we’re still a full season away from the proper winter months when the entire surf world will descend upon Pipe’s lineup. And if you’re as anxious as the rest of us for that time of year to get here already, the world’s most famous wave getting its first true Northwest swell of the season is cause for celebration. Koa Rothman knows this. He’s as excited for it all to ramp up as anybody else, so when he noticed a bit of activity on the charts he geared up for the event.

Koa lays down an informative little nugget in this episode of his This is Livin: The big wave surfer/vlogger details how his cozy little spot in the center of the Pacific Ocean is perfectly situated to catch swell, not too far north to get pummeled by storms, nor too far south to miss potential wave-making energy.

Anybody else chomping at the bit to see Pipe light up like a Christmas tree for the next few months?
