Joel Parkinson’s first job was washing dishes. He’s riding the fence on whether or not surfing in the Olympics is a good thing. According to Parko himself, he cooks a mean lamb curry. And if he could tell his 10-year-old self one thing, it’d simply be “enjoy it.”
This is the random stream of answers to a very random stream of questions thrown at the former world champ and perennial longtime title contender – part of SurfStich’s new Pop Quiz project, putting some of the world’s best on the spot and asking them questions that often have nothing to do with surfing at all, and every once in a while something relevant to their livelihood of riding waves. It might seem silly, but it’s kind of a cool way to get to know a guy like Joel Parkinson as more than somebody who surfs really, really, really well.
