Not so impossible when the stars align! Photo: YouTube//Screenshot
Bali is full of great waves. Waves that’ve shaped the way we surf today. Waves that helped ignite the entire idea of “the search.” Gerry Lopez had a big hand in opening the Island of the Gods to the wider surfing public, and now it’s one of our Meccas. And one of the best waves in all of Bali recently turned on.
Impossibles is, as the name implies, not an easy wave to surf. In between Padang Padang (so nice they named it twice!) and Bingin, it’s breaks with amazing speed along the reef. Often, the sections are just too much for a surfer to get by… but when the stars align, you’re looking at one of the best waves on the planet.
“April has been pumping, bringing a west swell in the middle of the month and now a south swell with the SE trade wind turning on for the dry season,” wrote Surf Raw Files. “It’s been a bit rainy and cloudy these days, but the storm didn’t affect the trade, so we had an amazing swell kicking off the season!”
