If you take a moment to reflect on pre-2016 winter in Hawaii then you will most definitely agree things got quite intense. Aside from the rampant case of injuries, the title race was super close; six people were in it (before Owen was injured); the Brazilians utterly dominated; Mick’s brother passed away yet beat Kelly and John John in arguably the heat of the year; Evan Geiselman almost died… I mean, the list goes on and on. And as you can imagine, dropping the world’s best surfers within a seven-mile stretch of coastline produced some crazy surfing.
