Snapt 4 is coming. It’s going to be a banger of a surf film, if Snapt 3 is any measure. It’s going to be a banger because Logan Dulien knows how to make a surf film. In this case, he told a handful of the best/most interesting surfers in the world — including Jack Robinson, Mason Ho, Clay Marzo, and Asher Pacey, to give you a feel for the kind of people involved — to make a three-minute section with the filmmaker of their choice. Slow-mo is only allowed for one clip. All the content in the sections has to be never-before-seen. And the winner takes home $40,000.
Now, Jack Robinson is one of the most exciting surfers in the world to watch. He does things that shouldn’t be possible, and he does them with this weird, almost detached sense of calmness. He throws himself into a boiling pit with a casual grin on his face more than pretty much anyone else. Snapt just released his throwaway clips for the little edit you see above, made up of sessions at his home in WA during COVID and some Hawaii clips from last winter. If this is what’s left on the cutting room floor, we can’t even imagine what the final cut is going to look like.
