By now, you’re most certainly aware of the magic that happened at Kirra before Cyclone Alfred made landfall. Surfers, from the everyday kind to the Jack Robinson and Joel Parkinson kind, scored the waves of their lives over the course of a few days.
There was an absolute glut of footage coming from the Gold Coast — it’s funny how fast that happens with social media — but now that the waves have eased and the people filming have had a bit of time to pore through the terabytes of footage they captured, edits like the one you see here are beginning to make their way to YouTube.
This one, courtesy of Raw Surfing, features Jack Robinson, a guy who was basically made for a swell like the one that hit Kirra. He chopped his teeth on Western Australia’s heaviest waves, loves the barrel, and loves going fast. And while Kirra might not be a West Australian howling, heaving slab, it had a whole lot of the same qualities that Robinson’s surfing is tailored towards.
