The Inertia

You know that kid you see who’s walking down the beach with their mom or dad and a tiny little surfboard under their arm? “Aww,” you think to yourself. “That’s cute. That little kid is just learning how to surf!” Then, 15 minutes later, you’re paddling for a wave and you look over your shoulder to make sure there’s no one already on it. Turns out that little kid you saw is already on it. That little kid blasts a massive, gouging turn right in your face, pumps down the line, and throws a giant air reverse off the end section. “Oh,” you think to yourself. “That kid’s not learning.” That’s Jackson Dorian. Freakishly good.

Of course, it makes a little bit of sense: his father is Shane, after all, and he’s spending his childhood not only chasing waves but under the tutelage of one of the best surfers on earth. Still, though, all things considered, Jackson Dorian is even better at surfing than we’d expect. In the 16-minute video you see above, Jackson and his gang of friends blasted off to Australia, Indonesia, the Maldives, Mexico, and Texas. And it looks like they had the best summer ever.
