Jamie O’Brien in Waimea shorebreak can still draw a crowd. Of gawkers, that is – people who want to watch him throw himself over the falls. Because he doesn’t actually make that many waves, which makes one wonder why he actually does it. Only Jamie knows the feeling: the vision of a giant tube before it clamps on him like a steel trap and then explodes, sending sand inside every crevice of his body (we know, not a good visual). He’s one lucky guy, though. He can either throw himself over massive shorebreak, or go back and surf small Pipe. Small Pipe sounds way more inviting.
