Jaws is a hell of a wave. As with nearly everything, the level of consequence is directly correlated with the level of gnarliness. Carlos Burle is a man who is very familiar with waves of consequence, and as such, he’s very familiar with the consequences that come with them. Take his most recent session at Jaws, for example. After a wipeout at Maui’s most famous big wave, his leash wrapped around his leg and left a pretty nasty mark. Luckily for Burle, though, the leash broke and he made it to the surface after a nasty pounding. All in the name of success, though–and chances are, if you were to ask Carlos, he’s say it was worth it.
