You’ve likely heard about it by now, but just in case you haven’t, here’s what’s happening with the Triple Crown. It’s gone digital. Since Coronavirus swept the nation, organizing large gatherings of people from around the world onto a tiny little island turned out to be… not a good idea. But we live in 2021, which is basically the future, so the World Surf League had options. They decided that, instead of creating a crowd of mouth-breathers breathing on each other, they’d simply ask competitors to send in clips of waves from the traditional Triple Crown locations: Haleiwa, Pipeline, and Sunset. That, coupled with a whole lot of really good back-to-back swells, made for a damn good contest window. And above, you can see how Nathan and John Florence are doing it.
