You likely remember John John Florence’s wonderful four-part series, VELA. It followed John, Kona Johnson, Nathan Florence, Jacques Vincent, and Eric Knutson on an expedition to the Palmyra Atoll in the Line Islands after John was injured last year. It was scored by a musician from the North Shore named Ron Artis II, who is part of an incredibly talented musical family.
Artis joined the VELA project to create original music, but not all of the tracks he composed were used. Thankfully, the Parallel Sea team captured the creation of one such track, and it’s a beautiful one. Above, you can see it paired with a session from the trip featuring Nathan Florence and Kona Johnson.
