The Inertia

Jon Gubbins may be ready to chill at home for a while. Or maybe, just maybe, this is just the beginning of something good. Plus, you have to be a little curious about what that next frequent flyer miles statement is going to look like…

“He’s had quite a crazy month or so,” Justis St. John tells The Inertia.

According to St. John, Gubbins’ trek around the globe went a little something like this: tow swell in Tahiti. Immediately off to Peru for only a few hours before moving on to Sumatra for a swell. After three days there, Gubbins moved on to Namibia to chase another swell.

“He didn’t get the wave he was looking for and hung around hoping the next swell would go west enough,” St John adds. ” He got the wave he was looking for and then he packed it up and flew straight back to Indo to catch the same swell there. He got the idea of chasing a swell like this from the first legit wave he got at Donkey a couple of years ago.”
